Accident Types

There are many different types of accident which have resulted in successful compensation pay outs for victims. They come from different sources and range from a slip in a supermarket to a major injury sustained at work. The following list is not extensive, but contains some of the more common personal injury and loss compensation claims.

Accidents at work are many in number and despite health and safety legislation and better workplace guidance, some employers are still woefully inadequate at protecting their employees from the hazards of the job. Here are some common workplace injuries:

– Repetitive Strain Injury or RSI happens when the same movements are repeated over and over again for long periods of time. It affects every type of employment from administrator to master builder and can be a cause of severe suffering and lead to a loss of earnings.

– Manual Handling Injuries can occur from lifting in an incorrect fashion. Your employer has a duty of care towards you and not training and overseeing the implementation of the training may find your employer at fault. This means you as an employee can make a personal injury claim for compensation against your employer.

– Hit by a moving vehicle or equipment. Many workplaces have moving equipment or vehicles such as fork lift trucks. If you have been injured by one of these then you have grounds to make a claim.

– Struck by a falling object is also fairly common occurrence and one that could have been avoided with proper due care and attention by your employer. If you have been the victim of this, call us, and we may be able to help you make a claim for compensation against your employer.

Slips, trips and falls are also a common occurrence. If you have slipped in a supermarket due to spilt food or fallen from a dangerous height at work, you may well have grounds to launch an accident claim. Ideally, you should be able prove the accident happened, you were injured and have a record that an injury was sustained. Like a medical report from a doctor for example. If the answer to these is yes, then you have a case for compensation.

Another common type of incident are road traffic accidents. If you have been involved in an accident that was not your fault, then you have a case to claim compensation for personal injury. Road traffic accidents are normally very clear cut as the responsibility for the accident has already been decided by the insurance companies. If the accident was not down to you, then you may well have a claim.

The truth is that providing it can be proved a person or organisation of some kind was at fault, and this resulted in injury or loss to you, you may well have a chance of claiming compensation for your accident.
